Overview

The token is used to authorize transactions (e.g. payment orders). MIP VTB SE displays a challenge value, which is entered into the token in order to produce the response value. The response value have to be entered into MIP VTB SE to authorize the transaction.

We have prepared the following descriptions in conjunction with tokens for you:

  • First initialization of a new token
  • Login to MIP VTB SE
  • Signing (authorizing) of transactions
  • Change of token pin
  • Help in case of problems


Bringing the token into service

In order to bring the token into service you need the following information, which can be obtained from your account manager:

  • token
  • token pin
  • information to which participant the token has been assigned

In order to bring the token into service please follow these steps:

  • Switch the token on using the green key ("OK").
  • For security reasons the token is protected with a pin code, which have to be entered before each token usage. "ENTER PIN" is displayed - please enter your pin code.
  • For security reasons the initial pin code has to be changed to a value, which is known by yourself only. "NEW PIN" is displayed, please enter a new 4-digit pin code and finalize using the green button ("OK").
  • To assure a correct entry of the new pin code, the pin code have to be entered a second time. "CONFIRM" is displayed - please enter the new 4-digit pin code again and finalize using the green button ("OK").
  • If the confirmation message "COMPLETE" is displayed, you have successfully brought your token into service and the token is ready for usage now.

Important advices:

  • Never try to use a token, which has not been assigned to you. Only the account manager is able to change the assignment of a token device. Please contact your account manager to check, whether the token is assigned to you. Please have the serial number of the token ready when calling.
  • The initial pin code for the token can be obtained from the account manager. The pin code is meant to protect the token against unauthorized access and will be locked if entered incorrectly several times consecutively. Please contact the MIP VTB SE helpdesk in order to unlock the pin code again.
  • Trivial pin codes such as "1111" or "1234" can not be used for security reasons.


Login

The token is not needed to login to MIP VTB SE in principle, as the password is suffient. In case you own several security media, MIP VTB SE remembers the media used at the login and proposes it for the authorization of transactions..

In order to login using the token please follow these steps, starting at the login screen:

  • Choose security method "Password and Token"
  • Enter your user ID and your password
  • Click on "Next", a security code (challenge) will be displayed and you will be asked to enter a token code.
  • Switch your token on using the green key ("OK").
  • "ENTER PIN" is displayed - please enter your pin code.
  • Please enter the 6-digit security code displayed in MIP VTB SE into your token and finalize using the green button ("OK").
  • A 6-digit code (response) is displayed on the token display. Please enter this code into MIP VTB SE (field "Token code") and click on "Login" then.

Important advice:

  • Do not enter the security code shown in MIP VTB SE into the field "Token code". The security code is meant as a challenge value for the token in order to calculate the response value. Only the response should be entered into MIP VTB SE.


Authorization

Many transactions have to be authorized/signed for security reasons. For example you will be prompted to enter a token code to authorize payments. To authorize a transaction please follow these steps:

  • A security code (challenge) will be displayed and you will be asked to enter a token code.
  • Switch your token on using the green key ("OK").
  • "ENTER PIN" is displayed - please enter your pin code.
  • Please enter the 6-digit security code displayed in MIP VTB SE into your token and finalize using the green button ("OK").
  • A 6-digit code (response) is displayed on the token display. Please enter this code into MIP VTB SE (field "Token code") and click on "Send order" then.

Important advices:

  • Do not enter the security code shown in MIP VTB SE into the field "Token code". The security code is meant as a challenge value for the token in order to calculate the response value. Only the response should be entered into MIP VTB SE.
  • The transaction will be authorized/signed according to the authorization, which has been assigned to you. Additional authorizations/signatures may be necessary before the transaction can be executed.


Change pin code

We recommend to change the pin code immediately in case you feel other persons might have noticed it. Please follow these steps in order to change your pin code:

  • Switch the token on using the green key ("OK").
  • "ENTER PIN" is displayed - please enter your pin code and press the green key ("OK").
  • An 8-digit code is displayed. Please press the arrow key ("MENU").
  • "CHANGE PIN" is displayed. Please press the green key ("OK").
  • "NEW PIN" is displayed, please enter a new 4-digit pin code and finalize using the green button ("OK").
  • "CONFIRM" is displayed - please enter the new 4-digit pin code again and finalize using the green button ("OK").
  • If the confirmation message "COMPLETE" is displayed, you have successfully changed your pin code. Starting from now only the new pin code can be used with the token.


Help in case of problems

In case of problems concerning the token please contact VTB Bank (EUROPE) SE. Please find an overview of the most common problems below:

The token shows "LOCKED" after being switched on and can not be used.

  • the token pin has been entered incorrectly several times consecutively and therefor has been locked for security reasons.
  • Please contact your account manager in order to activate your token pin again.

It is not possible to login or to authorize/sign transactions without any obvious reason.

  • Please assure, that you are using your own token. Your account manager is able to verify, whether you are using your own token, if you provide the serial number of the token.
  • Maybe you have entered a wrong token code incorrectly several times consecutively into MIP VTB SE and your token therefor has been locked. Your account manager is able to activate the token again.

Your token has been stolen or you can not find it anymore.

  • Please notify your account manager or the MIP VTB SE helpdesk immediately in order to lock your token and avoid unauthorized usage. The token can be activated again in the future.

In the future the token shall be used by another participant.

  • The token has to be assigned to the new participant. Please contact your account manager.

The token pin is not findable anymore.

  • The token pin has to be reset, please contact your account manager.
