The Swift messages screen is used to enter Swift messages. The screen consists of the following elements:

  • Menu
  • Input fields for message entry
  • Links, Buttons and Icons

Input fields

Message type
Swift message type, e.g. MT103.

Sender- und Receiver BIC are displayed, message priority and PDE flag can be set.

Fields (common)

The following information is displayed for each field:

  • Field name (z.B. "Interbank Settled Amount")
  • Mandatory field indicator (mandatory field: "M". optional field: "O") Please be aware, that some fields are optional or mandatory in dependency of the (non-) usage of other fields.
  • Numeric field description (TAG, e.g. "32")
  • Field option (e.g. "A"). Please be aware, that fields are displayed in dependency of the selected option.
  • Entry field
  • Information and error messages, if applicable.
Fields (combo boxes)
Many fields (e.g. codes, currencies) are displayed as combo boxes, allowing you to select an etrny from the list as well as entering the value directly. Matching list entries are proposed while you are entering the value. You may select an list entry by hitting the enter key.
Date fields
Date fields may be entered manually or by using the calendar element, which is reachable through the icon on the right side of the field.
BIC/BLZ fields
BIC and BLZ codes may be entered directly or by using the search dialogue, which can be opened using the icon on the right side of the field.
Save as template This function is used to save the message as a template for future messages. For this details are existing, which are only shown if required:

Save for: Determine for whom the template should be visible and useable:

  • Only for me: the template can only be seen and used by yourself
  • Customer: the template can be seen and used by all persons authorized to access MIP VTB SE (e.g. MIP VTB SE users of your company

  Template name: define a name for easy identification and usage of the template.
  Save: save the template. You may view, modify, delete and use the template afterwards.
Description You may enter remarks concerning this message in this field. The information contained in this fields is meant for your usage comfort and won't be sent together with the message itself. The remarks are visible in the "Incomplete orders" and "Order history" screen as well as in the PDF documents, which can be generated in those screens.

Input fields notices

Common notices:

  • For reasons of Swift conformity entry fields are displayed in english language, even if you have selected another language.
  • All mandatory TAGs and frequently used optional TAGs are shown. In general optional fields are hidden, but can be displayed by clicking the "+" sign on the left side of the field description
  • If you do not want to use an optional TAG, you may hide it as soon as you have deleted the fields.
  • Some fields (e.g. MT103, field 23B) may be used more than once. Those fields are displayed in grey colour. Using the "Add occ." and "Delete occ." buttons instances of this field can be created or deleted.

Swift standards:

  • All entries are checked against the Swift standards, which are currently valid. The valid field syntax is displayed below the active entry field. (e.g. "16x" for field 20) In the mentioned example ("16x") the character "x" represents the valid character set for entries in this field.
  • Only characters being permitted by the character set of the field, may be used:
    • a: A-Z
    • c: A-Z, 0-9
    • h: A-F, 0-9
    • n: 0-9
    • x/X: A-Z, a-z, 0-9, <Space> / - ? : ( ) . , ' + <Carriage Return/Line Feed>
    • y/Y: A-Z, 0-9, <Space> / - ? : ( ) . , ' + = ! " % & * ; < >
    • z/Z: A-Z, a-z, 0-9, <Space> / - ? : ( ) . , ' + = ! " % & * # @ ; < > <Carriage Return/Line Feed>
  • Mandatory TAGs are marked as "M", optional TAGs are marked as "O".
  • Mandatory fields are surrounded by a dark blue border, optional fields are surrounded by a light grey border.
  • Fields, which are not filled accordingly to the Swift standards, are surrounded by a red border and an error message is displayed beside the field.
  • Messages not meeting the Swift standards, can not be executed, but they can be saved as "incomplete". You may modify and correct the message later.

STP rules:

  • VTB Bank (EUROPE) SE has announced a number of rules, allowing STP processing for those messages, which meet the described criterias. All messages are checked against those rules.
  • Fields, which are not filled accordingly to the STP rules, are surrounded by an orange border and an error message is displayed beside the field.
  • Nevertheless messages not meeting the STP rules, can be executed.

Action elements

From template... A list of available templates is displayed, which can be used for this order type. You may take over the template data into the entry form by clicking onto the template.
Validate The message will be checked against the Swift and STP rules, found errors will be displayed. The message won't be saved or executed.

Messages, which are marked as "complete", must meet the Swift standards. They can be signed and executed using the "Incomplete orders" screen.

New order The entry screen will be emptied, allowing you to enter a new message. You need to save the previous message before, otherwise you might lose the entered data.
Apply The entered data will be displayed again allowing you to verify the correctness. You may modify ("Modify Inputs") or save ("Send order") the payment.
